Link 11 Simulator with C2 Capabilities
General Data
The C-Flex system software is developed for use in conjunction with a variety of multi function consoles, MFC. The MFC and the C-Flex software are made to support a wide variety of functionalities and tasks that are demanded of the military personnel on the vessel.
Functions within the Console Framework shall in general be accessible by each and every operator. This concerns the following components:
- Application Display
- Common Graphic Library
- Desktop Manager
- Function Selector
- HardkeyManager
- Help Manager
- Keyboard Manager
- Pointing Device Manager
- Print Manager
- Radar Display
- RGB Display
- Situation Display
- Video Display
C-Flex consists of a number of independent applications working together to provide C4I functionality to its operators. Among the strengths of building the system from several loosely coupled applications are: the ability to add and remove parts without disabling the system altogether and contracting the system's components individually.
It is recognised that some tasks are critical with respect to the time it takes to execute them, while others are more critical with respect to the amount of involvement required of the operator. The elements that are critical to the success of the involved applications are elicited during the development of the application.
The C-Flex console features two LCD displays with touch sensitive overlays. The unit is called a Touch Input Display. The Touch Input Displays, TID, are two identical, but independent, units each with the capability of initiating functions in the system. There are several different choices of format for each TID, each with a different set of functionality and an appropriately chosen layout. The operator may chose, independently for each TID, what TID format is desired.
The TID supports the operator by providing two basic methods of operation. The TID displays a button that activates a function, or the TID displays a button that spawns a window on the operator's desktop where a function may be activated. In this respect a function can be to activate or persist a value or change a state in a sub-system.
